– WE have a strange expression in Tromsø. If we have good weather before Easter, we use good weather. When the weather is great in the south, you use summer weather. Then we will have a fantastic July, Gunnar Wilhelmsen, mayor of Tromsø, told Dagbladet.

On Monday, Wilhelmsen’s hometown had the dubious honor of being Norway’s coldest.

In the Vervarslinga for Northern Norway, which lies roughly 100 meters above sea level on the top of Tromsøya, only five degrees plus was measured at 12 this morning.

This is what Julie Solsvik Vågane, a meteorologist in charge of the Meteorological Institute, told Dagbladet.

Then came Harstad, a little further south in the county, with a temperature of 5.7 degrees.

– No tendency to depression

– It’s probably too much to say that summer has come to Tromsø, notes Wilhelmsen.

He described May as the worst in years in terms of weather.
