20 cars derailed when a train ran into trouble in Springfield, Ohio. All emergency services rushed to the scene as a result of the incident.
So far, only material damage has been reported. Video footage from the scene shows how the train, apparently without warning, derailed in a straight line.
CNN reported that full alarm was sounded after the incident, as there was great uncertainty about the train’s load. It’s only been a month since the same railroad company crashed, also at that time in Ohio. A train with a toxic cargo inside derailed in early February. Residents in the area are still living in uncertainty when they will be allowed to move their homes.
– Biden made contact
The fear that the same thing has happened again is overwhelming after Saturday’s derailment. However, after a few hours, confirmation came that there was no toxic cargo on board and that residents in the area were not in danger.
President Joe Biden was also involved in the incident, according to Gov. Mike DeWine.
– We don’t think there is any hazardous material on board. President Biden and Secretary of Transportation Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg contacted me and offered to help, DeWine wrote on Twitter.
More than 1,500 homes lost power due to the derailment.
