Cuba and Britain this Wednesday formalized the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation (ADPC) which will guide bilateral relations in various matters such as trade, the environment, human rights, without forgetting the US embargo, as shown the British Embassy itself.
British MP and minister for the Americas and the Caribbean, David Rutley, and the island’s vice-chancellor for Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez, signed the document after holding talks.

According to a release Cuban Foreign Ministry, “both sides expressed satisfaction with this important agreement, which will contribute to the strengthening of relations.”
Rutley held a courtesy call with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, where the two spoke about “progress in bilateral relations and cooperation.”
“The Cuban Foreign Minister thanked the United Kingdom for its support for Cuba’s resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States,” the information added.
Prior to the signing, Minister Rutley had stated in a statement that this agreement would allow the UK to address “issues of importance to both parties such as human rights and the embargo” in Havana.
Cuba and the UK before an agreement on dialogue and political cooperation
In 2018, Cuba’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, visited London and Prince Charles and Duchess Camila came to Havana the following year. These exchanges contributed to the strengthening of Cuban-British relations.
Britain was a member of the European Union (EU) when the community bloc signed a Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement with Cuba in 2017, but since the country later left the European Union, London has formalized its own communication mechanism with the island.
