Discovered “ultramassive” black holes.

The black hole should be one of the largest ever discovered, wrote the team of researchers at Durham University who made the discovery.

They have published their findings in the journal of the Royal Astronomical Society and explain that the black hole has a mass 30 billion times that of the Sun. A size that astronomers rarely see, wrote CNN.

– That’s an upper limit to how big we think black holes are theoretically, so it’s a really exciting discovery, said the study’s lead author James Nightingale at the University of Durham in England.

The new discovery amazed scientists

A black hole is a region of space where the gravitational force is so strong that nothing can escape, not even light Huge Norwegian encyclopedia.

Nightingale and the rest of her team have used a technique called gravitational lensing and this is the first time a black hole has been discovered using this method.

This method allows astronomers to find black holes that are far less active and “ultramassive” than previously thought.

In addition, the researchers used computer simulations and images taken by the Hubble telescope to confirm its size.

“Ultramassive” black holes are the largest objects in the universe, and have a mass between 10 billion and 40 billion times that of the Sun. Astronomers believe they can be found at the centers of all large galaxies, they wrote Guard.

“Ultramassive” black holes are rare, and their origin is unknown. However, some believe that they were formed by the extreme merger of giant galaxies billions of years ago.
