The CEO of Equinor Opedal earned over 19 million in salary last year
The krone’s weaker exchange rate last year gave Equinor CEO Anders Opedal a pay rise, from the NOK 18.1 million to the NOK 19.6 million he was paid.
In 2022, Equinor CEO Anders Opedal received remuneration of 2.042 million dollars, which is slightly lower than in 2021, when he received 2.055 million dollars, according to Equinor’s annual report, which arrived on Thursday. Because Opedal gets salaries and allowances paid in kroner, there will still be a raise.
High oil and gas prices contributed to a record result for the company last year, with an adjusted operating profit of $74.9 billion. In 2021, the corresponding figure is 33.7 billion dollars.
Norway has also benefited handsomely from the weakened krone exchange rate and strong yields in 2022. The Equinor pays 45 billion dollars in income taxes, of which 44 billion is paid in Norway.
