Emergency services mobilized with all resources after reports that a silo had exploded in Romerike. However, it turned out that it wasn’t an explosion, but a silo that broke apart.
– Injury known, but extent of damage unknown, police wrote in the first Twitter message at 10.37am.
The superintendent at the East 110 center, Arne Normi, told Dagbladet that there were two people with minor injuries.
– There are silos with fully filled and cracked screed. We are starting to get an idea of the situation, and there are no hazardous substances in the area, Normi said.
A wall must fall.
Operations manager at the East police force, Melissa Krag, said that the cause may have been overcrowded silos and cement powder covering large areas.
– Until now, everyone in the building has been accounted for. It is not a hazardous substance. Two people are now receiving health care, but I don’t have the level of damage to the person, he said.
One of the guys was covered in cement powder. The second person is said to have been standing very close to the wall that exploded, and was complaining of back pain. The person was awake on the last update to the operations center.
