France.- Hermès increased its sales by 22% through March due to the pull of China and tourism in Europe

Sales of French luxury fashion and accessories company Hermès totaled 3.380 million euros in the first three months of 2023, a figure representing a 22.3% increase over the same period the previous year, according to the company that created the Birkin bag.

Without taking into account the impact of exchange rate evolution, turnover of French companies between January and March recorded a 23% year-over-year increase.

The French company’s sales in Europe grew 22.9% year-on-year, to 664 million euros, and 20.9% in Asia, to 2,084 million, while in America revenue increased 23.9%, to 556 million.

In this regard, the company highlighted “a very good Chinese New Year” and solid growth in Europe, particularly in the UK and Italy, driven by increased tourist inflows.

Regarding the different business lines, the leather and leather goods division had a turnover of 1.409 million euros, 17.8% more, while the accessories business increased revenue by 33.7%, up to 950 million, and silk and textiles 18.4%, up to 234 million. On the other hand, watch sales grew by 23.6%, to 166 million.

“The first quarter of 2023 aligns with our strong results in 2022 and reflects the success of our collections worldwide, driven by the loyalty of our customers,” said Axel Dumas, CEO of Hermès.

In the medium term, despite worldwide economic, geopolitical and monetary uncertainties, the French company remains confident about its revenue growth targets at constant exchange rates.
