– Gotta stop

Few, if any, are as fiery as Erling Braut Haaland during the day. The Norwegian striker scores goals on order, and is in demand around the world.

It also means that media coverage is very high. In light of the transfer to Manchester City, Haaland was protected from the media at the national team meeting, and the number of minutes the super-forward has spent on reporters has been criticized and greeted with great understanding.

Accept criticism

Leif Welhaven of VG and Birger Løfaldli of Adresseavisen were among Haaland’s critics, but they received a clear answer from national team manager Ståle Solbakken.

In the following encounter, Haaland ran as quickly and accurately on the field through the press zone on two occasions:

Here he does it again

Jakob Ingebrigtsen has also made a habit of, and has met with understanding, as he dropped the media after the trial warm-up and semi-finals at major championships, but when he dropped the media after the first of two European Championship gold medals in Munich, he had to endure the criticism.

Ingebrigtsen himself was not particularly impressed:

– He sounds like an idiot, said Ingebrigtsen NRK when he learned that the aforementioned Welhaven and NRK commentator Jan Petter Saltvedt had waved his moral finger.

Gotta stop

On Saturday morning, Therese Johaug appeared at a conference in Holmenkollen where skiing was discussed. There, he was asked the following question from the hall by the press manager for cross-country skiing, Gro Eide:

– What do you think about stars like Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Haaland not speaking to the media?

– I mean you should stop. You have to stop when it’s going badly and when it’s going well, Media is the most important thing to convey sports to the people watching. If the media weren’t there to promote the sport, it would stop and the interest would stop, Johaug explains.

After that, Johaug showed Dagbladet that he was talking about athletes in general, not just about Haaland or Ingebrigtsen.

– It’s important for us to talk, and I think it’s good that the media is so interested in skiing. Women and men have to give something to the media and maintain an interest in sport in the future.
