Emergency services were called on Saturday morning after reports of fire and heavy smoke in a wooden building in Bergen.
At 07.22, 110 Vest reported that the fire was under control. Extinction is in progress. The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was injured in the fire.
At 07.08 a.m. on a Saturday morning, the Western police district reported on Twitter that there was no longer an open fire, but it was hot in construction that the fire service was working on.
Operations manager in the West police district, Eivind Hellesund, said that at 07.00 there was talk of a fire in one house. There is a risk of spread.
– Nothing is missing, Hellesund told VG at 07.00.
The fire must be in Marken, where there is a dense settlement of wooden houses.
There were 11 people who had been evacuated from their homes and neighbors’ homes. These have been given temporary shelter at the Godt brød bakery, and the city government is taking over responsibility for them, the operations manager said.
– We don’t have the full picture, but there will be a fire in the house. We are trying to get an overview of the residents. We have no information that anyone was injured, said operations manager Jørgen Ommedal in the Western police district Bergens Tidende.
– We’ve started putting out. It’s in the middle of a densely packed wooden housing construction, so the risk of spreading is great. “We are there with four stations,” said task commander Tore Fanebust on the 110 NTB switchboard.
– Thick smoke is coming out of the third floor of a building. Residents there said everyone had to get off the floor where there was a fire, he said.
Hellesund said they received a report of the fire at 6:29 am.
