Storhamar – Sola 27-29 (12-11)
On Tuesday, the first of three possible semifinals between Storhamar and Sola is played. With the score 24-24 after full time, the match was decided by extra time.
– It’s fun, and games like this are playoffs. Now we have to properly match against the best here. I’m very happy we managed to pick it up in the end, said coach Sola Steffen Stegavik.
– This is the worst way to lose, to say the least. But it will be more fun to beat them next time, said Storhamar goalkeeper Eli Marie Raasok.
In the first extra half, Sola scored three goals and Storhamar zero. They came back in the second half, but Sola held on until the last second and won by two goals.
– Sola’s defense is good. They denied Storhamar a lot in an established attacking game, said TV 2 commentator Bent Svele.
Thus, Sola is in the driving seat before the next semi-final clash awaits at home. If the Rogalanders win there, they’re in for a play-off final.
Kristina Novak is the top scorer for Sola with nine goals. Anniken Obaidli scored ten goals for Storhamar.
– This is very sad. We made a few mistakes and missed a few shots while in a critical phase of the game. We must weed quickly, said a disappointed Obaidli.
Even games
Hamar’s team opened the match very well, but Sola held on. 24 minutes into the first half, Storhamar took a three-goal lead, but after a “hat-trick” from Live Rushfeldt Deila, they equalized.
Storhamar went into the break at 12-11 after a goal by Obaidli in the last second.
After the break, Sola came out on top from his early blocks and took the lead with four goals, but Storhamar took the bait. Six minutes from the end, the score was 22-22.
– This was a very dramatic and even match, exactly the way a play-off semi should have been, commented Christian Paasche.
The teams followed each other as teasingly, and a goal from Obaidli sent the team into overtime. Sola is the best there is.
