It’s related to 2-2 battle between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge which Souness said the following on TV:

“Referees allow more passes, and that makes the viewing experience better. We’ve all played football, with simulations and people dropping to the ground. I haven’t seen that for two games today. Suddenly it’s become a sport. another man.”

Presenter David Jones tried to moderate it quickly, adding that it was a sport for women too.

When the former Liverpool hero was asked about the feud between manager Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte, Souness replied that “boys will always be boys”.

UNIMPRESSED: Bethany England won EC gold with England this summer. He was not impressed by Souness’ statement.

The TV personality made that statement while sitting next to Karen Carney. Sky Sports experts earned 144 caps playing for the England women’s national team.

– Come on. What a shame to say after a summer this country has witnessed, Bethany England wrote on Twitter.

He was part of the England national team squad that picked up EC gold at home this summer.

On broadcast to TalkSport on Monday morning he was asked if he regretted the comments.

– I don’t regret a word, Souness is said to have said Security.

– Our games in English are always unique. It’s more rude and “to each other”, and we’re moving away from that. My comment on Sunday was “we got our game back”. That’s the kind of football I remember playing. Our league will benefit from it. I enjoyed two football games yesterday where men played against men, Souness continued on to TalkSport.

Eniola Aluko too, who won 102 games for England between 2004 and 2016, was not too excited by the statement. He also reacted on Twitter.

– Embarrassing. Graeme Souness spoke of “men’s sport again” as he sat next to England hero Karen Carney, two weeks after the Lionesses ended a 56-year drought to win the European Championship. Come on, it’s okay, wrote Aluko.

– Football is football. It is played by women, men, boys and girls. It’s so simple, he followed up.
