The British prosecution authority CPS (Crown Prosecution Service, editor’s note) announced last week that it was charged against Kevin Spacey for four counts of sexual assault against three men.
The attacks are said to have taken place between 2006 and 2013.
Kevin Spacey maintained his innocence.
Disappointed
In a statement to “Good Morning America”, he said that he was “confident” that he would prove his innocence.
“I really appreciate the statement from CPS which clearly reminds the media and the public that I deserve a fair trial and that I am innocent until proven guilty. While I am disappointed by their decision to proceed with this case, I will voluntarily appear in the UK as soon as possible to defend myself against these charges, which I believe will prove my innocence.”, Spacey said.
Kevin Spacey was one of the most prominent actors in the world until 2017 the sordid allegations surfaced against him. One actor claims that when he was 14 years old he was sexually abused by Spacey in 1986. Spacey was then 26 years old.
Spacey responded with an apology on Twitter, where he wrote that he could not remember the incident but was shocked to hear this and apologized “if he behaved this way” for his “highly inappropriate drunken behavior”.
Following this, 14 other people also filed charges against Spacey.
Paid back 277 million
The 62-year-old is known for blockbusters such as “American Beauty”, “Seven” and “The Suspects”, as well as the Netflix series “House of Cards”.
In 2021, it was revealed that he paid back $31 million to MRC, the studio that produced the series finale. This then corresponds to 277 million Norwegian kroner.
Spacey was fired from “House of Cards” due to allegations of sexual harassment and assault.
The studio then rewrote the series to remove the characters, reducing the number of episodes from 13 to eight, causing a large loss of revenue for the company.
