– Based on the testimony of witnesses, it is possible that there are still people left in the avalanche. “That’s why we wanted to deploy rescue dogs,” police task force leader John Endre Skeie said at a press conference at 3pm on Saturday.
No results were found in the search. The crew, among other things, have passed through the wreckage of a car that was picked up by the avalanche. A heat-seeking camera has also been used.
– We have witnesses who think they have seen several people, it’s a slightly different number. “To be completely sure, we’re continuing our search,” said Skeie.
Foreign tourists are taken into account
– Police have mapped and counted some foreign tourists who are concerned.
This is what the West Police wrote in a press release regarding the landslide in Loen on Saturday afternoon.
The search resumed that same morning with drones and heat-seeking cameras.
– The police will continue to work to investigate whether everyone has left the area safely. A small area across the river where a landslide had been triggered is now considered safe by a geologist. Thus, the crew will begin with a surface search in this area.
That same morning, after conversations with witnesses and other investigations, concerns were raised about some foreign tourists, who were not reported by the police.
Police share photos of landslides
On Saturday afternoon, the West district police shared photos of the landslide.
– These photos were taken by the 330 rlandet Squadron right after the landslide, police wrote.
– Still uncertain
No one is still missing after that incident.
According to police, the landslide area is still too unsafe to send crews ashore.
– This is because of the two large shovels hanging over the area. It is being considered, in collaboration with geologists, whether this shovel can be released in a controlled manner so that it is safe to enter the crew search area.
There was also a new landslide on Friday afternoon.
400 meters wide
Operator on switchboard 110 West, Stig Kvam, yesterday was able to say that the first landslide covered 400 meters of road.
The leader of the police task force at the scene, Jon Endre Skeie, confirmed that the minor was slightly injured after the incident.
Police have assigned their own phone number in connection with the landslide in Loen, police wrote in a press release Friday afternoon.
The phone number is 815 02 800.
