Meloni praised Britain’s pre-Sunak immigration policy

MADRID, April 27 (EUROPEAN PRESS) –

The Italian Prime Minister, far-right Giorgia Meloni, praised the UK’s immigration policy this Thursday in the presence of his British counterpart, Rishi Sunak, in London while dozens of demonstrators protested the visit of the Italian ‘prime minister’ to number 10 in Downing Street.

“The fight against people smugglers and clandestine immigration is something that both our governments do very well: I follow their work and I very much agree with it,” Meloni said, as Rai News reported.

However, dozens of protesters supporting migrant rights gathered around number 10 Downing Street to express their opposition to the Italian prime minister’s arrival in the UK, with ‘Leave’ and ‘No to the fascist Meloni’ banners.

During the meeting, the two discussed the “close relations” between the two countries, with the aim not only of bilateral relations, but also of working together through the G7 and G20, as well as with the background of Ukraine.

This comes after the scandal caused by the words of the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, who is a member of the Brothers of Italy, Meloni’s party, and warned of alleged “ethnic substitution” in the country.
