This was conveyed by the Head of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) after a meeting with European diplomats, who highlighted that the Dominican Republic is the only country in Latin America that has signed a collaboration agreement with Oxford University. , in England.

“It was an honor to receive the plenipotentiary ambassador from the United Kingdom and collaborators before the Dominican Republic to review the series of proposals and understand that they are of high importance in the interests of young Dominican scientists in the country,” said García Fermin.

Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to the country, Mockbul Ali, stated that no other country in the Latin American region has the same vision as the UK in expanding Higher Education opportunities like the Dominican Republic.

He added that the Chair of MESCyT was not satisfied with the opportunities provided through the Chavening scholarship program, because as the regulator of Higher Education Institutions (IES) which he leads through the Ministry, he wanted to continue to increase scholarships towards the Chavening scholarship program. Great Britain.

“Chevening Scholarships are a benefit that Dominican professionals can access, thanks to the good relations that exist between our two countries,” said Ali.

García Fermín and Ali highlighted that the meeting was fruitful as several proposals emerged in favor of increasing Chevening scholarships, a program that has been designed in an agreement between Oxford University and the State of Dominica, represented by MESCYT.
