That confirm Manchester United.
He lived to be 86 years old.
Charlton is one of Manchester United’s greatest playing legends – perhaps the greatest. He played 758 games for United, scoring 249 goals.
Two of his goals came in the Serie A Cup Final in 1968, ten years after Charlton survived a plane crash in Munich.
He played 106 matches and scored 49 goals for the England national team, and was one of the most important players when England won the World Cup in 1966.
That same year, he also became the second Manchester United player, after Denis Law, to win the Ballon d’Or.
After his playing career, he was eventually brought back to Manchester United, where he had a seat on the board, and he was an important supporter of Sir Alex Ferguson in his difficult first years.
In November 2020, the Charlton family announced that Sir Bobby had been diagnosed with dementia.
