Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this Saturday the arrival of a ship at Jeddah port with nearly 2,000 refugees from Sudan at the peak of the largest extraction operation since the beginning of the conflict in the African country on April 15.

In particular, there were 20 Saudi citizens and 1,846 people from around 50 countries, according to a note published by the Ministry on its Twitter account.

Since the start of hostilities between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Saudi Arabia has established itself as one of the main parties responsible for the evacuation of foreigners from the African country, especially by sea route from Port Sudan to Jeddah. .

Saudi authorities estimate that 4,879 people have left the country using the mechanism offered by Riyadh, including 139 Saudi nationals and 4,738 others from 96 different countries.
