Seaward’s new PV150 test instrument measures open circuit voltage, short circuit current, ground continuity, insulation resistance and operating current. It weighs 0.95 kg and has a two year warranty.
Seaward, a UK-based manufacturer of electrical test equipment, has introduced a new monitoring tool for solar panel installations. The PV150 solution measures open circuit voltages between 5V and 1000V and short circuit currents between 0.5A and 15.00A. This solution also measures ground continuity, insulation resistance, and checks operating current using an AC/DC current clamp.
“With the push of a button, the new portable tester performs the required series of electrical tests in a safe and controlled manner, avoiding the risk of contact with exposed ‘live’ DC conductors,” Seaward said in a statement.
The device has enough memory to store up to 200 complete test records. It has USB connectivity, so test results can be quickly downloaded to a computer.
The unit can also wirelessly capture and record real-time measurements of irradiance, ambient temperature, and PV module temperature via connection to Seaward’s Solar Survey 200R meter. This measurement can be done in conjunction with an electrical test.
“Thus, the combination of testing, data logging and downloading allows PV system documentation and test certificates to be completed quickly and error-free,” said Seaward.
The PV150 weighs 0.95kg and measures 26.4cm x 10.7cm x 5.8cm. It operates on six 1.5V AA batteries and is guaranteed for two years.
