“Our business model is not working well, but we are doing well”

The manager of the North American grid team is very clear about what is wrong with his team, what they need to change, but he doesn’t see it in the short term. It would seem that all the factors are clear to Guenther Steiner, the analysis has been done, the investigation too, but the conclusion is that what is needed cannot be done in the short term, or in the medium term. Hence, if something was impossible, then he also couldn’t bombard his head with distant worries, Steiner would rather say that, even though he knew that the models weren’t working, they were fine as of now.

Has Haas’s way of working hindered the track team’s performance?

“Yeah, they can’t deny it. Right now, that’s it our business model is not working by having it in one place because of the collaboration with Ferrari and Dallara and also with the racing team in England. So it’s just thinking about what you can do to try to handle it as best you can.”

“If you want to do something different, you have to find a good way to do it. But, at the moment, there is no good way to bring the team together in this way. The only thing is to bring a racing team to Italy. It is much easier to bring design team to the UK, but that’s also impossible because we have 100 people working there and should replace at least half of them, maybe more, because more than half will not come to Italy. In the short and medium term, we are doing well.”
