Outstanding results of PROMPERÚ activities at Ficafé Puno 2023

The confluence of exports and tourism exceeded initial business projections.

The exclusive attributes of Peruvian specialty coffee attracted 27 buyers from 13 countries who participated in the business conference held within the framework of Ficafé Puno 2023 and generated projected sales of USD 15.5 million that will be realized in the next twelve months. .

Peru’s Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) reports that this figure far exceeds the initial estimate of USD 3.5 million.

Representatives of 61 companies and producer associations from 12 regions participated in the roundtable: Amazonas, Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Lima, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martín, who met in 441 business meetings with buyers from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Chile, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United States, Italy, New Zealand, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden and Taiwan.

Of the total international buyers, 50% have not yet purchased this Peruvian product, and in this first experience, they highlight the quality of the specialty and organic coffee.

Recall that PROMPERÚ launched the Cafés del Perú sector brand in August 2018 as a priority and objective of the National Action Plan for Peruvian Coffee to develop promotional strategies and tools for this sector, enabling the dissemination and differentiation of this Peruvian product, publicizing its quality, origin and sustainability.

This export business roundtable was jointly organized by the Regional Government of Puno and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

Within the framework of Ficafé, PROMPERÚ also organized a tourism business roundtable, with the aim of contributing to the reactivation of the sector in the Puno region. 15 buyers from Lima, Arequipa and La Libertad participated, as well as 15 local exhibitors, including representatives of lodging companies, travel agents and community tourism businesses.

The exercise ended with a total of 225 appointments generating business of S/ 2.3 million, higher than the initial estimate of S/ 1.5 million.

To complete the wheel, buyers also have the opportunity to go on a familiarization trip to learn about tourist products of the southern region of Puno such as the Aymara route and the floating islands of Chimu, in addition to the coffee suggestions they find. at Ficafe.
