Prime Video will have “limited advertising” in the US, UK, Germany and Canada in 2024

That streaming platforms Amazon, Prime Video, announced this Friday “limited advertising” in the US, UK, Germany and Canada in early 2024 and at the end of that year in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia.

The company didn’t say exactly how many ads or ad minutes there would be starting next year, but said an option would be offered without advertising for $2.99 (approx. 2.81 euros) extra per month for US members.

This is similar to what Hulu, Disney’s streaming company, and YouTube, Google’s video platform, have done.

“We will share prices for other countries later. We will send it email to Prime members several weeks before the ad was introduced on Prime Video with information on how to sign up for the ad-free option if they wish,” the company statement said.

So far, in the US there is a Prime subscription – which also offers benefits in shipping products purchased on Amazon– costs $14.99 per month one of $139 if paid annually.
