Prince Harry – Breaking the silence on rumours

For decades, cavalry officer James Hewitt, 64, a former friend and lover of Princess Diana, had to live with rumors that he was the father of Prince Harry, 38.

Hewitt sent shockwaves across England when in 1995 he opened up about his affair with Diana in the late 80s.

Denying paternity

However, the 64-year-old man has always denied that he is the father of the red-haired prince.

He has admitted that the two look alike, but according to Hewitt, he first met the deceased daughter in 1986, when Harry was two years old.

Hewitt knew Princess Diana when she was a riding instructor in the 80s. The two began a relationship, which lasted five years – and the daughter was said to have been devastated when Hewitt ended it.

Before Diana died in a car crash in 1997, she had admitted that James Hewitt’s claims were true.

Breaking the silence

However, Prince Harry has never commented on the claims – until now. In his autobiography “Spare”, which will be published on Tuesday, the prince wrote that one of the reasons for the rumors was his red hair.

“Tabloid readers loved the idea that Prince Charles’ youngest son was not his son. They never tired of the “joke,” for one reason or another,” the 38-year-old wrote in his biography.
