Puebla attracts FDI from 11 countries; Main investor EU Millennium Group

Between January and March 2023, Puebla captures 413.1 million dollars in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from the United Statess, the highest figure for the same period in 17 years from this home country, according to data from the federal Ministry of Economy (SE).

Of the total foreign flows into the Puebla area during the first three months of this year, amounting to $920 million, the United States represented 45.8 percent.

This way the American nation positioned itself as the main investor in the state and ahead of Germany which for many years remained the main issuer of FDI.

According to the federal SE report, US investment reflected positive behavior at the start of this year, as resources increased 41.0 percent compared to the $292.8 million that went to the state in the first quarter of 2022. .

So, in the reference period Puebla is placed among the main recipients of investment from neighboring countries, only behind Mexico City which took three thousand 286.7 million dollars, Baja California with 496.2 million dollars and Nuevo León with 470.6 million dollars.

Of the total FDI that entered the state in the January to March period, Germany represented $238.8 million; Spain was placed as the third country of origin with 94 million dollars, the Netherlands as the fourth investor with 33.5 million dollars, the UK was fifth with 2.1 million dollars, while France, Switzerland, Sweden, Panama, Italy and India. classified as confidential.

According to historical FDI records, entities from Puebla raised in the period 1999-2022 five thousand 603.3 million US dollars of investment, distributed in sectors such as autos, auto parts and credit institutions.
