Ragnhild Mowinckel with super run – wins medal in WC – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– You are so stupid when you do this, Ragnhild Mowinckel told NRK.

He just won WC bronze in the giant slalom. His first medal since WC in 2019. Between the two medals, there have been many setbacks. Since his previous WC medal, Mowinckel has been going through a rough patch with a serious new ligament injury.

– It’s not a “walk in the park”. When you’re in a hospital bed and having surgery, the road is very long, says Mowinckel.

Mowinckel managed to climb from fifth place to the bronze medal with a strong finish in the second round. It was closing in on the nobler metal, but both Mikaela Shiffrin and Federica Brignone were several tenths ahead.

Even so, this bronze medal means a lot.

– There’s a bit of history about what you’ve been through. And feel that you can come back after all the way down and show that you can quickly get better at skiing. It’s great to show that it’s working again.

His previous WC medals have been an important inspiration along the way.

– I’m glad I experienced success before my injury, because you know that I can achieve it again. It’s not an unthinkable thought.

Proud teammate

This was the women’s fourth WC medal of the championship. But this one with a medal means a little extra for Mowinckel’s teammates.

– He drives very hard and very controlled, solid alpine skier. He is strong mentally and physically. He was good at planning and came up with his plans pretty quickly. It was absolutely raw, Thea Louise Stjernesund told NRK and added:

– I’m very happy for Ragnhild here.

Mina Fürst Holtmann, who put in her best form this year and finished sixth, is also happy for Mowinckel.

– Big. Very large. I’m proud, and so is the whole team. Very good. Big moment for everyone. We are happy for Ragnhild. He deserves this.

– Some of the roughest driving I’ve ever seen

– She beat the others, exclaims NRK expert Nina Haver-Løseth

For the last part in the second half of Ragnhild Mowinckel smells of burning. After losing a bit midway through, he outpaced almost everyone on the bottom.

It was held for the bronze medal.

– It’s like a roller coaster. He lost a bit, then he entered again. She rides a nice kilt, says Haver-Løseth.

Kjetil Jansrud was also very impressed with the actions of the Norwegian bronze winner.

– Holy shit, that’s some of the roughest driving I’ve ever seen from Ragnhild at the bottom hangs. Especially from the middle hanging down. Smells like gold, but will be bronze, Viaplay experts said on their broadcast.

This is Mowinckel’s second podium this season.

– This is really fantastic. I really tried today. At least after the first half I knew I had my chances and I went in. Then you just have to drive what happened. I’m really glad it went through,” Mowinckel told NRK.

– Tired

Stjernesund and Maria Tviberg did not fare well in the first half. The two raced to the end in the parallel slalom yesterday, and the brand is racing after several intense days.

– I have a little flair in my legs, I noticed. It’s not nice to admit it, but yeah, I didn’t run as much as I should have, Stjernesund told NRK after the first round.

Is it due to fatigue after parallel running or?

– Well, obviously it’s stressful and you have to do a lot of laps, also a very high level of tension throughout the day. So the previous days had an impact on them, but then there would be little sleep. The brain works and goes through the day repeatedly.

This meant they had an early start in the second half, and Stjernesund took advantage of that. He ran to eighth place.
