Ready for cup semifinal

(SK Brann – LSK Kvinner 6–0) A nightmare dimension opening for LSK Kvinner ensured that Brann was already leading 3-0 after almost a quarter of an hour. In the end it ended with half a dozen behind LSK goalkeeper Moa Edrud.

MORE SIMPLE: Firefighter captain Tuva Hansen can cheer both to score and advance against LSK Kvinner. Now the cup semifinals await the guys from Bergen.

Aftenposten collaborated with VG-sporten. Therefore, as a reader of Aftenposten, you also get articles and services created by VG.

– It’s totally overrun. LSK travel to Bergen and are sent home as slaughtered, concludes NRK football expert Carl Erik Torp after the game.

In other words, Brann is too much of a task for LSK Kvinner, who was also a huge disappointment in this year’s series. Ahead of the last league round, they are seventh in the table.

The cup was by no means something that could save the season for the canaries. Already 83 seconds into the quarter-final encounter, Bergens had an early dream at Tuva Hansen to make it 1-0.

New signing Tameka Yallop doubled the lead for the hosts, scoring in their second straight game since joining from West Ham.

Shortly after, Ingrid Stenevik made things worse for the visitors from Romerike when he scored 3-0.

At that time, more than 13 minutes had not been played.

Until this year, LSK has actually never lost to Sandviken, which is now called SK Brann. This year, Bergens have won two of the two encounters. Already at the weekend, they met again in the series.

– LSK’s big drop was a completely separate chapter, said Torp as Brann went up 3-0.

Goalkeeper Edrud’s poor game ensured Svava Gudmundsdottir could score 4-0. The same woman made sure to continue the humiliation after the break with 5-0 after an hour of play, when she ended Brann’s brilliant strike.

Just a few minutes later, the dozen were half full behind Edrud. The score was signed by Maria Dybwad Brochmann. It was also the final result in Bergen.

But this is not the only big game played in the cup tonight. The meeting between numbers two and three in the table at Toppserien, Rosenborg and Vlerenga, was a very entertaining quarter-final.

Quarter into the game, the home side took the lead through Celine Nergård after strong preparation by Sara Kanutte Fornes.

The aforementioned Fornes put the ball into the net to make it 2-0 through the feet of Vålerenga after 22 minutes of play. It was his first goal since the end of May.

Seven minutes later, Janni Thomsen continued with the game’s big C-moment. Vlerenga’s player deflects a corner kick from the left straight into the goal. The Rosenborg defenders on the line never reached and suddenly hope was burning for the guests from East Oslo.

– After the reduction, we let them into the game more. They were lucky, RBK captain Mali Nss told NRK on the way to the dressing room at half-time.

But part-time talks with Trnders didn’t help. A quarter into the second half, Vlerenga got lucky again and the equaliser was a fact. Thea Bjelde made the score 2–2 after the set piece.

Substitute Elise Thorsnes was inches away from sending Vlerenga ahead after 66 minutes, but the post wanted it differently.

Instead, it was the home team that retaliated viciously. Sara Hørte swung in a corner with incredible power with 18 minutes remaining in regular time. Vålerenga had a great chance two minutes into extra time, but Rosenborg held on and won 3-2.

– This is crazy. It’s very sad to lose in the quarter-finals. We created big chances in the last quarter and we were superior. But it didn’t work. There is a small margin, Thorsnes summed up NRK, who himself was very close to scoring.
