Rodríguez called for “action” against the Diplomatic Corps in the face of “fraud” in the primaries

The President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, this Thursday called on the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country to “restraint and respect” regarding Venezuela’s internal affairs. He said that the ongoing meetings between several ambassadors with María Corina Machado following the results of the opposition primaries described by the Government as “fraudulent” were viewed with concern, while he unveiled evidence showing what happened last Sunday.

“We saw a meeting that took place between someone belonging to a political group and several ambassadors. With all due respect, we ask for self-control, we ask for stinginess. Do not interfere in the Republic’s domestic political affairs. Venezuela deserves peace, to hold the 2024 presidential elections peacefully,” Rodríguez said.

In a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the lawmakers revealed to diplomats the fraud recorded last Sunday in the primaries that failed to comply with part of the agreement signed in Barbados.

“One of the elements set out in the agreement, in the fourth point, stipulates that the parties will ensure that the electoral conditions to which it refers apply equally to other electoral processes that must be implemented (…) On two occasions the CNE “He contacted the self-proclaimed Main Commission to give know them that he is ready and willing in accordance with what the constitution stipulates to support and carry out the so-called primary elections in that sector and that sector refuses,” he denounced.

He recalled that “The Constitution of the Republic stipulates that the CNE is the governing body that organizes and advises on every election event.”

Likewise, he stated in the presence of ambassadors and charge d’affaires that “Venezuela’s electoral system, in my opinion, is one of the most reliable, robust and transparent.”

The deputy reiterated that the Súmate organization (founded by María Corina Machado) had kidnapped the Main National Commission. And he warned that the outcome of the event could not be verified “because they have thrown away and burned the ballot papers, the election record books.”

“Let a technical mission from the European Union come and together with the CNE and the TSJ electoral chamber (the highest electoral authority in the country) recalculate the ballots, and let the audit be carried out as is done in Venezuela when there are elections. . “They won’t be able to count them because they have already selected them, they have burned them,” he said.

The Head of the Venezuelan Government Delegation in the dialogue process, also reminded that the fourth point of the agreement signed in Barbados stipulates that “the parties will ensure that the electoral conditions referred to in this agreement apply equally to other countries. the election process must be developed,” he said.

Rodríguez stressed that “the days of 2019 are over. We (the Government) will not allow Venezuelan society to be in a situation of anxiety again.” ““We will not allow what they did to Guaido in 2019.”

Rodríguez’s statement came after María Corina Machado held a meeting with several ambassadors accredited to the country. Among them are representatives from Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Portugal, England, the Dominican Republic and Switzerland, as well as a delegation from the European Union.

In Rodríguez’s telephone call this Thursday to ambassadors and chargé d’affaires of various countries, evidence was presented of fraud in the opposition primaries.
