The Small Farmers Association cut ties with the Farmers Association in the agricultural settlement, and now wants political support.

On Monday, the Norwegian Association of Farmers and Smallholders of Norway put forward its main demands for agricultural settlements. They wanted 13.45 billion, which was added to the 6.6 billion the Norwegian Farmers Association had asked for when they negotiated with the state, wrote Klassekampen.

Negotiations eventually ended at 4.1 billion.

Usually farmers’ organizations first negotiate a joint demand, but this year Småbrukarlaget stopped negotiations. Farmers’ associations negotiate with the state alone.

The Storting must adopt an agricultural agreement, and the Smallholder Association expects assistance from those who have signaled that they are not satisfied with the agricultural settlement.

– We are politically neutral, and talk to all parties. Small parties have a very interesting role to play, they also clearly want change, Småbrukarlaget Tor leader Jacob Solberg told the newspaper.

The farmers’ association, for its part, warned against changing the negotiated agreements.

– We spend all the time in negotiations and move on. My clear hope is that we have used all that Labor and the Center have to offer. Then I assumed that the pre-negotiation agreement was honored and found the majority, Farmers’ Association leader Bjørn Gimming told the newspaper.
