Samsung Electronics announced that six models of its 2023 Neo QLED line have obtained the Carbon Trust “Reducing CO2” certification, indicating that the carbon footprint of these devices has been reducing year over year. This recognition demonstrates a multinational effort to increase sustainability throughout its product life cycle.

“It’s great to see Samsung’s sustainability mission recognized by a trusted organization, as we remain committed to creating products with the future of our planet in mind. As the world’s largest TV manufacturer, we have a responsibility to lead by example and will continue to use technology to drive positive change,” said Seokwoo Yong, Executive Vice President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Carbon Trust is a global climate consultancy founded by the UK government with the mission of responding to climate change and reducing greenhouse gases. Organizations calculate their carbon footprint certification by evaluating the amount of greenhouse gases they produce[1] throughout the product life cycle, from production to disposal, according to internationally recognized standards.

This recognition is due to multinational efforts to reduce product weight and energy consumption during use compared to previous models. All six certified 2023 QLED Neo models include three 8K QLED Neo displays and three 4K Neo QLED displays[2]. The company looks to expand the scope of this effort and hopes to achieve carbon footprint certification for more than 20 models this year across its newest line of QLED, OLED and Crystal UHD TVs, as well as display and signage products.

In 2021, the Samsung Neo QLED will be the first screen to receive certification among TVs with 4K and higher resolution. The following year, 16 models from the 2022 range, including 11 models from the QLED range, Crystal UHD and Lifestyle displays.

As the world leader in TV for 17 consecutive years, Samsung continues to introduce sustainable products and practices into its products.
