San Antonio Opens Seven Warming Centers for Families in Need – NBC 7 San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO –The coldest air of the season will be arriving this afternoon in central Texas, so San Antonio authorities are setting up seven heating centers for people who don’t have heat and need one.

Authorities are reminding Texans to protect their families by keeping them warm and checking for any elderly people who may need extra blankets. They also asked to protect pets, bringing them into the house at night to keep them healthy and safe.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THIS EVENING?

Temperatures could dip into the 10-20s across the county Friday morning, with the first winter in many areas outside the Hill Country, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Friday’s high temperatures will remain at or below freezing in most areas. A severe frost warning is in effect for all of south-central Texas from 6:00 p.m. this afternoon through 12:00 p.m. Saturday.

People with pets can take them to heating centers which will be available in separate areas in the Normoyle, South Side Lions and Garza centres.
