Santander UK renovated part of its dome. The bank’s UK subsidiary has appointed Enrique Álvarez as CEO of its new retail banking division, effective October 1, as reported in a statement. The new division is called ‘Retail & Business Banking’ and combines the residential and mortgage businesses as well as day-to-day services.

The division will be responsible for product development and offerings for retail and commercial banking customers through branches, customer service centers and digital channels. Marketing and financial support activities, as well as Cater Allen and Cahoot, also fall under its umbrella.

Álvarez, who in his new responsibilities will report to Santander UK CEO Mike Regnier, has 20 years of experience in international business at companies such as Bosch or McKinsey. In 2015 he joined Santander, where he is responsible for the group’s strategy and presidential office. In 2019, he moved to the company’s UK subsidiary as head of strategy and corporate development. Since 2021 he has been customer service director in the ‘Everyday Banking’ area.
