Shocking news in Great Britain. Sky UK has decided to abruptly postpone the showing of a new documentary about king emeritus Juan Carlos I whose content has not been disclosed so far.
However, the cancellation will not be general. For example, as reported Confidential, Sky Germany will continue with the planned schedule and will air the first of the four-part documentaries later this week. Likewise in Spain, SkyShowtime will also be available from next Monday, May 22.
The documentary is called Juan Carlos: love, betrayal and money, and was made by German producer Gebrueder Beetz. In fact, it was presented at the festival series Cannes (France).
The work has unpublished testimony about the last years of the king and his millionaire fortune. Among the more than thirty people who have been interviewed, ex-girlfriend emeritus Corinna Larsen stands out; the king’s friend, Philip Adkins; private investigators and more than a dozen journalists.
The director of the documentary, Christian Beetz, previously criticized that he was put under pressure during the making process and, given the recent news of the delay in broadcasting in the UK, he indicated that “after more than two years of intense working with colleagues from Sky Studios UK, the sudden broadcast delay has taken us by surprise.
Moreover, Beetz stated that “it was clear from the outset what kind of journalistic forces were involved here. I am even more pleased that Sky Germany is still on our side and still plans to broadcast it on May 21.”
