SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) — South Korean Science and ICT Minister Lee Jong-ho and his British counterpart Michelle Donelan held a virtual meeting Monday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in scientific technology, South Korea’s Science and ICT Ministry said .

The meeting between the two parties was a follow-up to the agreement “Downing Street Agreement”signed last year by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the two countries in all sectors, including security, defence, science and technology, economy and trade, according to the ministry.

As part of the agreement, the two countries will hold the first South Korea-UK digital partnership forum and launch a joint committee on science and technology later this year.

Lee and Donelan delved into plans for a second AI Security Summit, to be held this year, following the first summit held last year in the UK.

Calling for stronger ties between Seoul and London, Lee said, through bilateral ministerial talks, they had taken the first step towards collaboration in the fields of science, technology and information and communications technology (ICT), as agreed last year. .
