Spain occupies first place in the application of ISO standards

Spain maintains its leadership in the application of global standards, according to a new report Study ISO Survey 2022 from International Organization for Standardization, ISO. This annual report includes application of technical standards within the organization in areas such as quality, environment, technology or governance. Spain is at the top in various categories. That Spanish Association for Standardization, UNEISO member from Spain, plays a fundamental role in the development of international standards and in raising awareness of the importance of compliance.

Spanish companies are placing the ecological transition and sustainability at the center of their strategy to strengthen their growth, in line with one of UNE’s main areas of work, which seeks to apply standards and good practices to serve companies and organizations enabling them to achieve their goals. In this field, Spain is the fifth country where the majority of companies and institutions have adopted environmental management standards (ISO 14001). In particular, 31,410 workplaces in Spain have been certified against this standard, lagging behind China, Japan, Italy and the UK.

Spain is the fourth country with the most workplaces that have occupational health and safety management certification (ISO 45001); fifth in social security (ISO 22301); and the second in road safety management (ISO 39001).
