Thomas Enger is among the nominees for the British literature award.
(PAGE 2:) Norwegian crime literature is currently developing very well abroad. Now we can boast of a successful new author outside Norway.
Thomas Enger is the only Norwegian nominated for the UK’s eDunnit AWARD, Gyldendal reports.
Beat some famous writers
The eDunnit AWARD was awarded to the best crime book published in the UK in 2011. The books were selected by British crime reviewers.
Enger was nominated for the book “Burned” – which in Norwegian is called “Skinndød”. This novel was published in Norway in 2010.
A number of well-known crime writers were among those shortlisted for the first nominations, but only seven made it onto the final shortlist.
Among the less successful writers are Jo Nesbø, Michael Connelly, John Hart, Harlan Coben, Henning Mankell and Håkan Nesser.
The nominees are:
Linwood Barclay for “Accident” (Orion)
Thomas Enger for “Burning” (Faber and Faber)
Dennis Lehane for “Moonlight Mile” (Little Brown Book Group)
Adrian Magson for “Death on the Rive Nord” (Allison & Busby)
Denise Mina for “End of Wasp Season” (Orion)
Steve Mosby for “Black Flower” (Orion)
George Pelecanos for “The Cut” (Orion)
The winner will be presented at crime festival CrimeFest in Bristol on Saturday 26 May. According to Gyldendal, Enger will be present at the distribution.
“Skinndød” has been sold to 19 countries, and has sold 30,000 copies in the UK. The second book in the series, “Pierced” was published in the UK on July 5. The third book in the series will be released in January 2013.
