Melisa Raouf, is a young Miss England finalist who made history in nearly 100 years of pageant beauty, when she became the first contestant queen to compete without makeup. He made this decision because, according to him, he decided to decide the practice imposed on many of these women.
In an interview with the newspaper Independent from England, Raouf assures:
It means a lot to me because I feel like many women of all ages wear makeup because they feel pressured to do so. If you are happy with your own skin, you don’t have to force yourself to cover your face with makeup. Our flaws make us who we are and that is what makes each individual unique.
In addition, she assures that personally, she has never felt that she meets the beauty standards imposed by society. “I’ve never felt up to standards of beauty. I recently accepted that I’m beautiful in my own skin and that’s why I decided to compete without makeup.”
Raouf, a 20-year-old political university student, was born in South London. Now, she is preparing to compete in the contest finale in October, at that stage of the competition she will also be risking her natural beauty, as she will also not be wearing makeup.
