The ICEX Brexit 2023 program will help businesses cushion the impact of trade with the UK

Companies whose exports to the UK were reduced due to the departure of the European Union or experienced increased spending in Anglo-Saxon countries now have the ICEX Brexit Export Assistance Program 2023.

The program presented at the CEOE Aragón International Commission aims to protect business structures from the impact and possible consequences of Brexit and help overcome barriers to doing business in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Director General of Internationalization of the ICEX Company, Elisa Carbonell, explained that currently there is a call is endowed with 4 million euro, financed with the European Commission’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve fund.

The program became famous in Aragon due to a decline in sales to that country. At first, People’s exports to the UK are not hampered by Brexit. Specifically, they grew in 2020 and 2021 by 19.71% and 14.91% respectively.

In In the first two months of this year, overseas sales grew by 7.13% compared to the same period in 2022, it reached 2,759 million euros and maintained an upward trend. However, this growth is lower than the national average of 12.79%.

About import, the data reflects an increase of 29.58% compared to 4.27% nationally. As a result, coverage level Aragón achieved 97.6%, continuing to be above the national average of 90.9%, but with a decline of 17.32%.
