Twitter shared which games were the most talked about on the platform throughout the first half of 2022.
Genshin Impact is still the most tweeted game in the world. In 2021 he also took first place. The latest entry this year is the web puzzle game Wordle, which didn’t make the top 10 in 2021 but is now in second place globally.
Several heavyweights from last year’s roster are missing from the first half of the 2022 roster, these include Animal Crossing, Minecraft and Fortnite.
The full Twitter list is as follows:
- Genshin Dampak Impact
- Wordle (NEW)
- Ensemble Star
- ultimate fantasy
- Sekai Project
- peak legend
- Elden Ring (NEW)
- Destiny/Grand Order
- Valorant (NEW)
- Legend of Zelda (NEW)
Japan was the country that tweeted the most about video games so far this year, followed by the United States and South Korea in second and third place. The UK is the only European country to make it into the top 10, ranking ninth.
Elden Ring launch generated the most discussion on the platform, according to Twitter data, maybe because of the millions of players who bought the game on the first day and shared their first impression of the game.
The second most discussed topic was Sony’s acquisition of Bungie, followed by Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which is getting a bit more hype than the new season of Fortnite.
