The Norwegian Sports Confederation apologizes for the harm caused by the whistleblowing case against Norwegian sport – Dagsavisen

This is evident from the statement adopted by the council at its meeting this week.

The sports council announced at the end of March that the whistleblower case had been closed, but recently the case has continued to receive attention. When the sports president and the entire top management of the Norwegian Sports Confederation met the press on Wednesday, this was once again a topic of conversation.

In a statement now adopted by the sports council, both those who had been informed, those who had been re-notified, and the entirety of Norwegian sport accepted the apology.

“The sports council recognizes that the whistleblower has the full right to notify, cannot be criticized for his or her notification or treatment and emphasizes that the person in question is a loyal and skilled employee,” it said.

Also after the previous board meeting, the complainant received an apology. This time it was also announced again.

Exit towards Elsafadi

“The sports council acknowledged that the re-notification did not breach the provisions of the Working Environment Act and emphasized that the person in question was a loyal and skilled shopkeeper.”

Furthermore, the management apologized for the burden borne by the notified parties.

In the second statement, criticism was also directed at statements made against the sports president in the media recently.

Sports council member Marco Elsafadi, who was summoned in this case, among other things, was harsh in describing Kjøll.

“The sports council believes that statements in the media of a negative nature towards the sports president and other parties are regrettable. This is not suitable for creating a constructive climate for cooperation and addressing challenging issues,” the council wrote.

The soft-spoken Kjøll

When asked by NTB, Kjøll said the following about whether the regret confirmed that the process was too bad.

– As I said at the beginning, after this case was closed, it received a lot of attention with a different focus. That’s why we brought it up for discussion in council yesterday. We then solve this problem with these statements.

– I have no other comments other than that, said Kjøll.

It was also announced on Wednesday that the fee for this much-discussed notification case was NOK 1.77 million.
