The Portuguese emigrants got back a thousand euros “scraped” in their accounts in Switzerland
About a thousand euros of Portuguese emigrants who worked in Switzerland and deixaram these values in Social Security accounts were recovered by a company dedicated to finding this rare amount, second only to the company.
A “SPNow” was created in 2021 by the descendants of emigrants who had, so to speak, money in a Swiss pension box and came to help other emigrants in the same situation.
According to the Swiss Federal Control of Finance, there are five thousand million euros “withheld” from 625 thousand Swiss pension funds, belonging to foreigners from various countries who work there.
This was due to changes in Swiss law which, in 1985, introduced a second pillar of social security (Previdência Profissional Obrigatória) aimed at complementing labor reforms.
But every time a transfer is registered, not bringing two workers, either to a new company, to work or back to the country of origin, it is necessary to transfer two cash funds to another, or it does not happen. , the amount is left in some boxes, even though the worker claims you.
Renata Santos, who is in charge of the company in Portugal, said in Lusa that, since 2021, there have been almost 1,000 Portuguese emigrants who registered on the platform to try to find out if they had money in the boxes.
More than a third (around 35%) had managed to earn some money, not a total of a thousand euros earned, he said.
The value found varies between 150 euros and 20,000 euros, in some cases it does.
The company hardly charges any service fees when it finds money that must be recovered, without having to know the amount which, according to Renata Santos, is greater than the 5,000 million euros initially proposed, it should be around 13,000 million euros.
Switzerland is the third country in the world to which the most Portuguese emigrate, followed by Spain and the UK. In 2021, it will be the country where the majority of Portuguese emigrants obtain citizenship, according to Relatório da Emigração, published in January this year.
More than 255 thousand Portuguese live in Switzerland, forming the third largest foreign community, after Italians and Germans.
