Anfisa Reztsova – Olympic gold medalist in cross-country skiing and biathlon – has died at the age of 58.

He first took up cross-country skiing, then biathlon – before returning to cross-country skiing and ending his career with a World Cup gold medal in the cross-country relay in 1999.

Reztsova won five Olympic medals, three of them gold: the cross-country relay in 1988, the 7.5 km biathlon in 1992 and the biathlon relay in 1994 in Lillehammer.

He won three WC gold medals in cross country relays: 1985, 1987 and 1999.

These deaths received a lot of attention in Russia.

Telegram channel Baza reported that Reztsova was taken unconscious to the intensive care unit of a hospital on October 15. He died on Friday.

She is the mother of two good biathletes: Kristina Reztsova and Daria Virolaynen.

Reztsova is a controversial woman – who in an interview in 2020 more than simply stating that he and other members of the national team were doping.

In February 2023 did he call Norwegians “cockroaches” after the biathlon brothers Bø spoke out against Russia being allowed to return to international sport.

– I remember him for his results and honesty, says biathlon legend Aleksandr Tikhonov Scavenge.

Another former Russian biathlon hero, Vladimir Drachov, told Tass:

– He is unique in every way. Perhaps no one in Soviet and Russian sports was able to win medals in two sports. He has a crazy focus on winning.

Reztsova suffered a heart attack in March 2023.
