– It’s an amazing experience to be a part of. What a crazy atmosphere, said NRK football expert Carl-Erik Torp during the finish.
10,582 tickets were sold setting a new attendance record for the women’s match in Norway. Bla previously sat at Bislett Stadium all the way back in 2006. It was 8,856 and placed during the cup final. At Toppserien, the best list before this afternoon was just over 3,600.
– This is the start of something really good. We’ve seen it in Europe, with the games in Barcelona and in England. “It was very appropriate,” said Torp at half-time.
But already next weekend, the record may fall. Rosenborg hopes that more than 20,000 people will attend Lerkendal when Brann comes to visit.
This afternoon it’s all about the Bergens. The home side immediately took command and produced some good chances before even five minutes into play. The home crowd still had to wait a quarter of an hour before the ball actually went into the net.
Acrobatically, Cecilie Redisch Kvamme took the ball under the pitch before she slotted it into the net from five meters. All in an acrobatic and impressive way.
Guro Pettersen in the Vålerenga goal without a chance.
– I never thought I would experience this, match winner Kvamme told NRK after the game.
Vålerenga didn’t offer the whole world before the break, and were lucky enough to avoid more chances before the break. They could thank Pettersen’s last bastion for that, which among other things prevented Svava Gudmundsdottir when she came alone.
Vålerenga coach Nils Lexerød realized that aggressiveness had to be increased if anything was to be achieved. At first, it seemed that the break chat worked to some extent, but the guests couldn’t make a big deal out of it.
Throughout the round, Brann appeared to be in complete control, and it was more a question of when 2-0 would come than whether Vålerenga would ever be able to return.
But no more goals.
– I have to admit that I’m a little emotional right now. I think this is incredibly big. Listen this. I almost had to “hold on” a little bit, Brann coach Alexander Straus told NRK shortly after the game.
He thought the victory was fully deserved.
– Vlerenga is a strong team. It was a match between two equal teams. But I think we a little better all the way and have control. The little they created came through our fault. Very convincing to see, the head coach concluded.
Brann continues to top the table at Toppserien with 37 points, eight ahead of Vlerenga.
