The US evacuates embassy staff in Sudan with the help of RSF

MADRID, April 23 (EUROPEAN PRESS) –

The United States evacuated all diplomats and their families this Sunday from its embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, which has been closed with their departure from the country.

The operation to evacuate all of its personnel, which was carried out with the help of the Rapid Support Force (RSF), required the deployment of “additional capacity”, as confirmed by CNN.

The US State Department had announced Friday that, due to the dangerous situation near the airport, no evacuation was planned for the nearly 16,000 Americans currently in the country, and had asked them to take their own safety measures. .

“The RSF Command coordinated with the US force mission, which consisted of 6 aircraft, to evacuate the diplomats and their families early Sunday. RSF has also overseen all necessary steps prior to the evacuation process, apart from confirming that they are fully cooperating with all diplomatic missions, and providing all necessary means of protection, and guaranteeing their safe return to their countries,” RSF wrote on its Twitter account.

Additionally, the RSF has declared its “commitment to a ceasefire” to open humanitarian corridors and ensure the safety of the civilian population.
