Monday May 8th will be an official bank holiday. Then everyone is encouraged to take part in various voluntary actions in their community.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, was the man responsible for the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey.
England is now the only royal house that practices this religious ceremony. Buckingham Palace said in a statement that while the coronation would be “rooted in old traditions”, it would also reflect the monarch’s current role and look to the future.
Prior to the coronation, the King and Queen traveled in procession from Buckingham Palace through the Central Gates and on through The Mall, past the Admiralty Arch, through Whitehall and down Parliament Street before arriving at Westminster Abbey.

The coronation began at 11.00 local time (12.00 Norwegian time). The ceremony itself lasted about an hour, which is a full two hours short of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953.
The entire royal family, except for Duchess Meghan, who has made her son Archie’s birthday a priority, will be at Westminster Abbey.
A number of other European royalty also attended. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will participate from Norway. The Swedish and Danish royal families are represented by King Carl Gustaf, Crown Princess Victoria, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.

The king is crowned in solid gold as he wears the Crown of St. George. The flamboyant Edward. It is very heavy and only used during coronations. Towards the end of the coronation ceremony, King Charles will wear the Imperial State Crown.
Queen Camilla will be crowned with Queen Mary’s Crown, which has been removed from the Tower of London to change its size ahead of the ceremony.

The king has personally selected the music for the ceremony. It features 12 new specially commissioned pieces, including the anthem from ‘Cats’ composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Portions of the service are sung in Welsh, and soloists include world-renowned Welsh opera singer Sir Bryn Terfel. There will be Greek Orthodox music in memory of the King’s father, Prince Philip, who was born in Greece.

Buckingham Palace
The royal couple were led from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in a carriage specially built to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 60th anniversary on the throne.
The inside of the train is decorated with sections of historical buildings and palaces. Above is the carved oak crown of the HMS Victory, one of the mainstays of the British Navy from the 18th century.
On their way home, Charles and Camilla sat in the 260-year-old golden carriage that had been used in all coronation ceremonies since King William IV was crowned in 1831.
It was first used by King George III in 1762. It is 7 meters long, 3.6 meters high and weighs 4 tons. Eight more horses were needed to pull it up.
The official part of the coronation ended with the royal couple and their immediate family paying their respects from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Superstars Lionel Richie and Kate Perry were among the acts who took part in the coronation concert at Windsor Castle the following day. It is broadcast live on the BBC from 19:00 to 22:00 local time.
20,000 people have been given free tickets to the grand coronation, including many who have volunteered for the charity patron of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
