Thousands of Iranians expressed their support for Palestine in a march commemorating the attack on the US Embassy

MADRID, November 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Thousands of people participated this Saturday in several cities in Iran in concentrations held to commemorate the attack on the United States Embassy on November 4, 1979 and which have given rise to messages of support for the Palestinian population amidst Israeli military attacks. .in the Gaza Strip.

Every November 4, Iran observes the National Day against Global Arrogance, a term used to justify the hostage crisis that occurred more than four decades ago. However, this time the focus was on Israel, as reflected in Iran’s official media, which even featured the burning of the Israeli flag as a form of support for the Palestinian cause.

In Tehran, next to the former United States Embassy, the slogans “Down with the United States” and “Down with Israel” were shouted, the IRNA news agency reported. Organizers had read messages warning the United States, France and Britain that “the axis of resistance is not limited to Gaza”, implying that the conflict could spread throughout the region.

Both Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the president, Ebrahim Rahisi, have in recent weeks condemned the actions of Israel, a country with which Iran has no ties. Iran, on the other hand, is an ally of Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Hezbollah, which has a presence in southern Lebanon.
