Tickets Going On Sale for Chelsea vs. Dortmund at Soldier Field – NBC Chicago

Two of Europe’s biggest soccer clubs will meet in Chicago this summer, with England’s Chelsea FC and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund playing at Soldier Field, and fans will get their first chance to score tickets this week.

The game between the two teams is scheduled for 19:30 on August 2, bringing famous players such as N’Golo Kanté, Kai Havertz, Marco Reus and Julian Brandt to the stadium, according to a statement.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday at 9am, but pre-sale opens at 9am on Monday. Details can be found Here.

This will mark the first match against a side outside England for Chelsea, one of England’s most successful clubs, during their summer tour of the United States.

It will also be a special moment for young Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, who grew up in the Chicago area and made his professional debut in Major League Soccer with the Chicago Fire.

“We are excited to visit Chicago as part of our US tour in July and play the iconic venue Soldier Field. We are proud of our strong fan base in the US and look forward to meeting our fans in Chicago this summer,” said Tom Glick, business president of Chelsea FC, in a statement.

Chelsea have struggled this season, currently sitting 12th in the Premier League, but had some rights to be proud of going into this game as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the last 16 of UEFA Champions League competition.

Meanwhile, Dortmund are fighting for their first league title since 2012. They currently sit atop the German Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich just two points behind their fierce rivals.

“After playing Manchester United in Las Vegas a few days earlier it was an honor for us to face Chelsea FC, another Premier League heavyweight. Having recently met in the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League, they still have a score to settle against them. Also, coming back to Chicago and Soldier Field is special to us, almost like a second home, as we will be playing here for the third time in as many decades,” BVB CEO Carsten Cramer said in a statement.

This is not the first time Dortmund have played in Chicago, having first competed at Soldier Field in 1954.

“Chicago is one great sports city. We are very excited to bring these two world-class teams to Chicago to play each other this summer,” added Geoff Jones, CEO of TEG Sport. “With Borussia Dortmund in top form, Chelsea’s strong following in the US and the only English Premier League team visiting the region this summer, we expect demand to be strong. These teams last met in the knockout stages in Europe this year and we can’t wait to see fans from Germany, England and all over the US come to Chicago for a fantastic football experience and witness the next round. team”.
