Swedish duo Madelene Sagstrom and Caroline Hedwall, Scottish Gemma Dryburgh and Danish Emily Pedersen earned Pettersen’s four wildcard spots.

As a result, Norwegian golf star Celine Borge will not be part of the European team at this year’s tournament. The 25-year-old is ranked 103 in the world, but has had good results in his first season as a professional – including a third place in the major Evian Championship.

Céline Boutier (France), Maja Stark, Anna Nordqvist and Linn Grant (Sweden), Charley Hull and Georgia Hall (United Kingdom), Leona Maguire (Ireland) and Carlota Ciganda (Spain) previously qualified for the tournament. Six of them won points and two went through qualifying tournaments.

This year’s Solheim Cup will be played the weekend of 22-24. September in the region of Andalucia, Spain.

Celine Borge had no place in the Solheim Cup team.

“Tutta” is co-captain as the European team defends the title in 2021.

– I know we can make history, no one has ever won three in a row. “But we have the best team we’ve ever had, so I think we’re ready,” said Pettersen.

In total, Pettersen ended his career with a solid 21 points in 36 Solheim Cup games. 18 wins, six draws and twelve losses is an impressive result. That made Tutta one of the greatest in tournament history.

Pettersen has long been one of the world’s best golfers. In 2020, he received an honorary award at the Sports Gala. He quit in 2019.

“Tutta” will also lead the European team in next year’s Solheim Cup.
