The survey, conducted in 2017, has listed repeat errors at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust Hospitals in central England in the period 2000–2019.
Infants were stillborn, died shortly after birth or suffered severe brain damage, according to the report. It also revealed that nine out of 12 mothers who died during this period could receive much better care. Among other things, some were forced to give birth naturally when they should have been offered a caesarean section.
Some infants develop skull fractures, fractures, or develop cerebral palsy after traumatic forceps. Other newborns received too little oxygen, according to the report.
But Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which runs several hospitals and maternity wards in the Shropshire area, were unable to adequately investigate or learn from the cases, he added.
There are several families of the deceased who are pushing the investigation forward after years of campaigning. HealthMinister Sajid Javid has apologized and promised that those responsible will be held accountable. Healththe victim has admitted that her treatment was not good enough and promised to follow the recommendations of the report.
Police are also investigating the case.
