Ambulance workers in England and Wales will strike on Wednesday over pay, amid fears among hospital officials that they cannot ensure patient safety.
A day after around 10,000 NHS nurses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland went on strike for the second time in less than a week, ambulance crews today joined complaints about wages and pressure on the public health system.
According to those in charge of the NHS, the shutdown is a worry to hospital chiefs but reiterates that, in spite of everything, a minimum of emergency services will continue to be available, while asking residents to use these services with caution and only in extreme emergencies.
In the UK, eight out of ten major ambulance services have declared critical accidents, due to the stress they have been under, and response times have doubled from two years ago, according to the BBC.
In the same way, lapses will occur due to strikes of paramedics, administrative personnel, emergency assistants, and technicians across the country.
The government also appealed to citizens to take extreme precautions today and avoid unnecessary travel by car or contact sports while nearly 800 members of the armed forces were recruited to complete the health strike.
