Nordic countries condemn attack on Ukraine and call for ‘strong’ response

Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway condemn the Russian attack this morning to Ukraine, which they described as a violation of international law, and demanded a firm reaction.

“Sweden strongly condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s actions are also an attack on the European security order. It will be met with a unified and strong response in solidarity with Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement. Swedish Affairs.

In a message on her official Twitter account, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin also strongly condemned the attack, which she described as “serious violation” of international law and threatens the lives of many civilians.

“Finland expresses its strong support for Ukraine and Ukraine, we are looking for ways to increase our support,” Marin said.

His Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gahr Støre, also described the military operations launched in eastern and southern Ukraine as “serious violation” and blamed Russia “for throwing Europe into this dark situation.”

“Russia must immediately cease its military operations and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he wrote in a statement.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed herself in similar terms, condemning a “terrible and unwarranted” actionsdeemed to be in violation of treaties and international law.

“It must have important consequences for Russia. The European Union and NATO will meet soon to discuss it,” wrote Frederiksen.
