Three children with hepatitis of unknown origin been sent home. Three minors, between two and seven, required hospitalization at La Paz hospital. Now the Community of Madrid is investigating whether this case has anything to do with 74 infections reported in UK where they can’t find their origin.
The minors are from Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid and all three have evolved well, although one of them had to undergo a liver transplant. Given the ignorance of the cause, Health has informed the rest of the community that they must report any suspicious and appropriate cases.
What is worrying about this warning is its unknown origin, because in the cases studied, viruses known to cause hepatitis were excluded: a, b, c, d, e. Likewise with the background of the trip.
The main symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea. The doctor asks for calm and knows how to recognize the symptoms of hepatitis: jaundice (yellowish skin and eyes) and dark urine. If these symptoms occur, seek medical attention.
However, doctors call for calm: cases are very few and sobriety must come first.
